PORCELAIN INLAYS / ONLAYS BRADFORD, KESWICK & ORANGEVILLE
AFFORDABLE DENTAL INLAYS & ONLAYS
Inlays and onlays are special types of fillings that are extremely durable and easily withstand the grueling force and pressure associated with biting and chewing. The difference between Inlays and Onlays is their respective location on the tooth. The onlays rebuild the cusps (corners) of the tooth while the Inlays restore the flat surface between the cusps. The affected tooth is first “prepared” in a dental office and then the actual inlay or onlay is manufactured in a dental lab. The materials used are gold or, more recently, durable white ceramic (to blend in seamlessly with the surrounding natural tooth structure). Since the restorations are made in the lab, two separate appointments are required to complete the treatment.
